Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired twice late to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the final seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
